I-DEA modules are designed as a set of lightly scaffolded quarterly packages. However, instructors are able to mix and match modules as they please, as long as they swap out modules in a “horizontal manner” rather than vertical. This means, for example, that instructors may swap the fall quarter's week three module with the spring quarter's week three module, as opposed to replacing it with a module that comes later in the same term. When swapping out modules in this manner, instructors will want to review all of the objectives within both modules. More information can be found in the module pairs section.

Use the full-scope and sequence spreadsheet to see what lessons are taught in each module to help decide how best to remix course packages.

I-DEA modules are designed to be taught, most often, in pairs. The program was designed this way to allow students two weeks to practice the technology in each module:

• Week 1: Students become acquainted with the application.
• Week 2: Students dive deeper and practice, increasing their comfort level when they encounter the technology in the future.

Keep this in mind if you move the second module of a pair — you will need to build in more technology support since students will miss out on its introduction. For example, Math Basics and Budgeting are paired, as are Study Skills and the American Education System, and Job Search & Interviewing and Work Readiness.

We grouped modules together for two reasons:

• smooth the transition between each
• similar topics could be compressed if time is tight

Curriculum may be exported through a Common Cartridge. Files will be downloaded with an "imscc" file extension. This is compatible with many Learning Management Systems (LMS). Check with your eLearning team or LMS provider to be sure the LMS you're using accepts an "imscc" file. We encourage you to work with your eLearning team so they can assist you with importing files.

Note: the "imscc" file is needed to import the content into an LMS, not to an expanded or unzipped file folder.
