I-BEST information for students

If you are an I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training) instructor, these resources can help you better understand the program's key principles.

  • Team teaching: A basic skills instructor and a professional-technical or academic instructor jointly instruct in the same classroom with at least a 50 percent overlap of the instructional time.
  • Collaborative planning for learning outcomes: The two instructors develop integrated program outcomes, jointly plan curriculum, and together assess student learning and skill development.
  • Student success: Students are additionally supported through comprehensive wraparound services that include college navigation and financial aid counseling.
  • Demand data and placement: Career pathways lead to family-sustaining jobs, while college pathways move students further, faster toward a transfer degree.
